South, North Korea hold military talks ahead of inter-Korean summit
North and South Korean military leaders met at the border today to find ways to prevent armed conflict from returning if peace talks hit a snag. The meeting comes days before the leaders of the two countries hold their third summit this year.

They agreed to create a special zone in waters west of the Korean Peninsula where there have been fatal military clashes within the past ten years.
Warships will not be able to enter the zone. And live-fire exercises would be banned there.
They also discussed drawing down patrol posts along the DMZ and excavating war dead from that buffer zone.
The talks to limit military threats from returning come ahead of South Korean President Moon Jae-in's summit next week in Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
