UNSC to discuss violence in Gaza

The United Nations is holding an emergency meeting on Tuesday in wake of the deadly violence in Gaza.

58 Palestinians are believed to have died on Monday when Israeli forces opened fire on protestors at the border.

It was the deadliest day of violence there since 2014 and coincided with the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.

This follows weeks of demonstrations at the Gaza border fence as part of a movement called the Great March of Return.

Kuwait has drafted a UN Security Council statement condemning the violence and calls for an independent probe. The U.S. blames Hamas for the unrest and is believed to have blocked the investigation request.
