India's Supreme Court strikes down instant verbal divorce

In a landmark win for the rights of women, India's top court has ruled that the practice of instant verbal divorce or triple talaq is unconstitutional.

The Muslim women whose plea the Supreme Court was hearing have called this a vindication of their constitutional rights.

US President vows to "fight to win" in Afghanistan, criticises Pakistan for "harbouring terror"


US President Donald Trump is vowing his country will "fight to win" in Afghanistan after 16 years of fighting.

President Trump made the comments during a major speech at a military base outside Washington DC on US strategy in the war-torn country and South Asia overall.

1 million bank employees on strike in India

Banking services in India have been hit with over 1 million employees of state run banks protesting today. The bank employees have called for a nation-wide strike.

India's 21 public sector banks control 75 per cent of the total business.

Beijing slams US probe into IP practices

Beijing has slammed the US government for launching an investigation into accusations that China was stealing American intellectual property, calling the probe "irresponsible."

US Navy announces worldwide operational pause

The US Navy has announced a worldwide "operational pause" as it conducts a review following the collision of the USS John S. McCain with an oil tanker off the coast of Singapore.

This was the second such incident in the span of three months.

The US Navy said Monday it will be reviewing safety and training procedures to prevent these types of events from occurring again.
