US and South Korea conduct military drills despite objections

The United States and South Korea are pressing ahead with their annual
military drills despite strong objections from North Korea.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have grown in recent weeks but
Pyongyang seems to have backed down from their threat to fire missiles
towards the U.S. territory of Guam.
