US Congress set to vote on Russia sanctions

The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on Russia sanctions, after lawmakers in both chambers achieved a compromise.

However, the White House is sending mixed signals on whether U.S. President Donald Trump will actually sign the legislation.

Terror suspect in US court, not Guantanamo

The U.S. Justice Department has brought a suspected terrorist to appear in a federal court in Philadelphia, and not to the U.S. Navy's detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to keep the detention center open and fill it up, while former President Barack Obama wanted to bring the final cases to American courts.

White House continues to deflect questions on Russian meddling

The Trump administration is continuing to deflect questions pertaining to the ever expanding investigation into Russian meddling in American politics and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has requested financial documents pertaining to U.S. President Donald Trump, while Mr. Trump has reorganized his private legal team.

And the American president has been asking pointed questions about potential pardons, something his new press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says is no big deal.

White House denies chaos in staff shakeup

The Trump White House is denying that there is chaos following the sudden resignation of Sean Spicer as press secretary and the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as Communications Director.

In addition U.S. President Trump's personal attorney Mark Kasowitz is stepping back, while the private legal team's spokesperson Mark Corallo quit.

Anthony Scaramucci started off his first appearance before the TV cameras to confirm Sarah Huckabee Sanders promotion.

Philippines' President Rodrigo Duterte says he will not visit the US

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said he is not planning to visit the United States, calling it a "lousy" country.

YouTube begins redirecting searches for hate videos

YouTube says it has started redirecting searches for terror propaganda and other hate videos, sending users to videos that denounce violence.

At least two killed as earthquake hits Greek island of Kos

At least two people have been killed and 200 injured after a 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit 12 kilometers off the Greek island of Kos.
Police say one of the victims was Swedish and the other was Turkish.

AEGEAN QUAKE KILLS TWO, INJURES DOZENS

At least two people have been killed on the Greek island of Kos by an earthquake in the Aegean Sea.

The quake hit 7 miles / 12 km to the north-east of Kos, close to the Turkish coast, with a magnitude of 6.7.

Over 100 people have been injured on Kos, as some buildings collapsed.

Some people were injured in the Turkish resort of Bodrum where there's also been localised flooding as a result of the quake.

Indian government says cow vigilante groups illegal

The Indian government has told the country's Supreme Court that no vigilante group has any place in the country as per the procedure of law.

The government has also said that it does not support any act of vigilantism in the name of protecting cows- an animal Hindus consider holy. Critics have accused the Indian government of tacitly encouraging such violence by failing to punish the perpetrators. 

In the last 22 months, there have been over 20 instances of minorities being targeted by Hindu groups over allegations of cow slaughter or beef consumption.
