Republicans win "Trump referendum"

Republicans have won a key congressional election in Georgia seen by many as a referendum on President Donald Trump.

Republican Karen Handel took 53% of the vote with Democrat Jon Ossoff on 47%.

Explosion at station in Brussels considered terrorist attack

Belgium's federal prosecutor says the explosion at a Brussels train station is being considered a terrorist attack.
Soldiers on the scene "neutralized" the suspect at the city's central train station, but it's not known whether he was killed or if he's still alive.

US shoots down drone in Syria

A US jet has shot down an Iranian-made drone in South East Syria.

US Central Command said the drone - which was operated by forces backing the Syrian government - "displayed hostile intent and advanced on coalition forces".

US pledges to keep sanctions on Russia

The United States says it will maintain sanctions on Russia for so long as it continues to occupy parts of Ukraine, including Crimea.

President Trump was reported to have wanted to lift some Russian sanctions, but following the visit to Washington of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, White House spokesman Sean Spicer said there would be no easing of pressure on Moscow.

Mr Spicer would not answer questions from reporters about whether Mr Trump believed Russia had interfered in the American elections, saying he had never discussed the issue with the President.

Guns kill 1,300 US children every year according to government agency

A new government study has found that nearly 1,300 children die from
gun-related incidents in the US each year.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May will set out legislative measures on Wednesday without a majority in Parliament, after negotiations with Northern Ireland's DUP party failed to reach a deal in time.


It comes after her Conservative government failed to secure its majority in recent snap elections on June 8th

US increases sanctions on Russia over Ukraine

Toddlers and babies attacks in DRC according to UN

A militia in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been accused of
maiming toddlers and shooting babies.

José Mourinho accused of tax fraud by Spanish authorities

Spanish prosecutors are investigating Manchester United's manager José Mourinho for tax fraud, dating from his time as head coach to Real Madrid. 

The Portuguese national has been accused of defrauding the Spanish government of 3.3 million euros between 2011 and 2012.   He has yet to comment on the claims.

French police say guns and gas found in car which rammed van in Paris in attempted attack
