Guantanamo pre-trial hearings re-start amid controversy

Pre-trial hearings have resumed for the five 9/11 defendants,
including alleged mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, despite a request
from one of the defense teams to quit.

The judge denied the motions from Walid Bin Attash's attorneys.

Moors Murderer Ian Brady dies

Serial killer Ian Brady, the man known as the Moors Murderer, has died aged 79.


He was being treated at a psychiatric hospital after being diagnosed with cancer.

Report: Trump "leaked highly classified intelligence" to Russians

Reports in the United States suggest that President Trump revealed highly classified information during an Oval Office meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister last week.


The Washington Post is reporting that the President, during the conversation,  jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State group.

US police reviewing social media footage linked to shooting of 15-year-old boy


US police are looking into footage posted on social media apparently showing the immediate aftermath of a shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Connecticut.

Last week Jayson Negron was shot dead by police after a short car chase in the south west of the state.

White House refuses to clarify position on taping claim

White House spokesman Sean Spicer refused to clarify whether U.S. President Donald Trump has a taping system.

Senate Republicans have joined the call from Democratic lawmakers for the White House to turn over any recording, saying it's not acceptable to try to play cute on such a serious issue.

Malware attacks slow

The pace of the "wannacry" ransomeware malware attacks appear to have slowed, but have been reported in some 150 countries.

The attackers have been demanding $300 to allow a user to regain access to their files.

Syrian activists say airstrikes on ISIL-held areas killed dozens of civilians

Syrian activists say two separate airstrikes on ISIL-held areas over the past two days have killed at least 30 civilians.

US army: Chelsea Manning to be unpaid, active duty soldier after release on Wednesday


The US army says Chelsea Manning will be an unpaid, active duty soldier when she is released from prison this week.

US accuses Syria of coverup

The U.S. State Department is accusing the regime of Bashar al-Assad of building a crematorium to cover up the evidence of war crimes at the Saydnaya millitary prison.
