Democrats criticise Trump border wall funding request

Democrats say they'll try and block and request from the Trump administration to fund a border wall with Mexico.

US media reports that The White House this week formally requested one billion dollars for 48 miles of new wall construction.

But Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer says a new border wall would hurt the US economy.

Republicans renew vow to repeal, replace health care law

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is vowing that the Republican party will come together to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare).

The legislation to do that was withdrawn last week, dealing President Trump's agenda a major defeat, when a key group of Republicans refused to vote for the bill.

Now, Speaker Ryan says, Republicans in the House of Representatives are going to try to figure out a way forward.

UN urges civilian protection in Mosul

The United Nations human rights chief has asked Iraq and the US-led
coalition attacking Mosul to ensure civilians are not caught up in the

American Airlines buys stake in Chinese airline

American Airlines is to buy a stake in China's biggest passenger air carrier, China Southern.

China complains to France over shooting of Chinese man in Paris sparking protests

At least 30 people, mostly Chinese nationals, have been detained in Paris following protests at the shooting death of a Chinese man in the city on Sunday. 

Police say he was shot when he attacked an officer with scissors during a domestic dispute however China has formally complained about the police action.

Trump To Undo Obama Climate Change Regulations

US President Donald Trump is signing an executive order that abandons a range of climate change regulations put in place under his predecessor Barack Obama.

Scots return to independence referendum vote

The Scottish parliament will resume a debate today on whether to call for a second independence referendum, after the debate last week was cut short by the terror attacks in Westminster.
