Trump wants to talk health care

U.S. President Donald Trump says he's open to talking with Congress about how to repeal and replace ObamaCare - that is more formally the Affordable Care Act - after legislation to do exactly that failed last week.

In the latest Gallup poll, only 36 percent of Americans approve of the job the President is doing, a number that has fallen to new lows due in part to this first big legislative failure.

While the Freedom caucus group of the U.S. Congress says they will not compromise, White House spokesman Sean Spicer thinks there's an opportunity with some Democrats to move forward on health care.

White House furious in Gorsuch delays

The Trump administration is furious that the U.S. Senate's Judiciary Committee has delayed it's vote on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to be an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has threatened to filibuster the nomination, a process requiring 60 votes in favor of ending debate to move to a full vote.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer called the moves obstructionism.

US rapper angers Colombians by visiting grave of drug lord Pablo Escobar

US rapper Wiz Khalifa has angered Colombians by publishing photos of himself visiting the grave of drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Escobar terrorised Colombia in the 1980s and 1990s. He and his cartel reportedly killed nearly 4,000 people including the bombing of a flight where all 107 people on board died.

Over 120 countries are getting together at the United Nations for the first ever talks aiming at a global ban on nuclear weapons.

The conference comes even as most of the world's declared and undeclared nuclear powers voted against the talks, saying they can't put nuclear deterrence in jeopardy.

US-Backed Forces 'To Pause' Military Operations Near Key Syria Dam

A US backed force of Kurdish and Arab fighters has taken control of an airbase west of the city of Raqqa, the stronghold of the so-called Islamic State.

They've reportedly said they'll pause military operations near a major dam in the area to allow engineers to fix any problems , amid concerns about its stability and potential flooding.

Russian opposition leader jailed for 15 days over protest

A court in Moscow sentenced Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny to 15 days in prison, saying he had disobeyed a police officer during an anti-government protest. May says Brexit could make the UK stronger amid Scottish calls for an independence referendum

British Prime Minister Theresa May has pledged that Brexit could make the UK's union stronger and will not mean the country stepping back from the world.

Her comments come ahead of a meeting with Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who has called for a second independence referendum amid anger that Scotland voted overwhelmingly not to leave the EU. The British leader is due to trigger Brexit this week.

The meeting could be tense as Theresa May has refused to be drawn on the issue of a referendum for Scotland, other than to say that now is not the right time to hold one.

May to meet Sturgeon for first time since second independence referendum call

British Prime Minister Theresa May is traveling to Scotland and will meet the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for the first time since the Scottish leader called for a second referendum on independence.

The meeting comes just days ahead of the planned triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty..... the formal notice that Britain intends to leave the European Union. This will set a two year deadline on negotiations for the UK's future relationship with the bloc.

Scotland voted overwhelming to remain part of the EU and Ms Sturgeon says the Scottish people have a right to decide their future.
