UN investigate Australian treatment of indigenous people

Australia is again facing criticism for its treatment of indigenous people.

This comes as a United Nations investigator is looking into attempts
the country has made to improve the lives of Aborigines and Torres
Strait Islanders.

Father of Germanwings suicide pilot says son didn't act intentionally

The father of the Germanwings pilot who crashed a plane in the French Alps, killing everyone on board, plans to present evidence that he says proves his son didn't act intentionally.

However, families of the victims are angry about the timing of the announcement - on the two year anniversary of the crash.

French presidential candidates clash in TV debate

The five main candidates in the French presidential election have clashed in the first of three televised debates.

The three and a half hour marathon debate focussed on education, migration, secularism and the economy but there was little talk of the European Union.

Top British banks named in multi-million Russian money-laundering scheme

British daily The Guardian revealed Britain's top banks and a network of UK-registered companies were used by Russians to launder millions of dollars. The money-laundering network was allegedly run by Russian criminals with links to Russian authorities, the daily says citing sources close to investigation. The banks are being questioned about what they knew of suspicious financial transactions. Our correspondent Daria Bondarchuk reports from Moscow.

MARTIN MCGUINESS DIES AT 66

Former IRA leader turned peacetime politician Martin McGuiness has died at the age of 66.

He had been Northern Ireland's deputy first minister until January when he stood down in protest at an energy scandal.

Martin McGuiness had played a leading role in the IRA when it was bombing his own home city of Derry.

But he went on to work at the centre of the power-sharing government in Northern Ireland after the 1998 Good Friday peace agreement.

He'd been suffering from a rare heart condition.

US Officials: Tillerson To Skip NATO Meeting for US-China Summit

US officials have reportedly told the Reuters news agency that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is planning to miss April's NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels, to stay at home for a visit by the Chinese president.

Ahead of Xi Jinping's trip to the US, Reuters also reports that the Trump administration is considering imposing new, sweeping sanctions on North Korea.

US Officials 'Plan Electronics Restrictions' On Flights

US officials are planning to ban people taking electronic devices bigger than a mobile phone on certain flights to and from the country, that's according to various American media outlets.

They're reporting that the Department of Homeland Security will officially announce the new rule later on Tuesday, and it comes in response to intelligence gathered overseas.

US To Ban Some Electronics On Direct Flights From Africa, Middle East

The US government is expected to bar passengers from bringing any

Democrats question suitability of President Trump's nominee to Supreme Court

     Hearings have begun into the suitability of American President Donald Trump's nominee to be the next Supreme Court judge.
     Democrats are angry that Republicans blocked hearings into President Obama's choice, allowing incoming Donald Trump to nominate conservative Judge Neil Gorsuch.
     Democratic Senators  accused Gorsuch of being pro-corporation at the expense of ordinary people, but Judge Gorsuch told the hearing that he was fair to everyone.

White House refuses to back down on wiretap claims

The White House is refusing to back down on claims that the Trump organization was somehow wire-tapped or surveilled, after FBI Director James Comey told a Congressional panel, there is no evidence.

Instead, Trump officials want to focus on the leaks to the press of classified material.
