MARTIN MCGUINESS DIES AT 66

Former IRA leader turned peacetime politician Martin McGuiness has died at the age of 66.

He had been Northern Ireland's deputy first minister until January when he stood down in protest at an energy scandal.

Martin McGuiness had played a leading role in the IRA when it was bombing his own home city of Derry.

But he went on to work at the centre of the power-sharing government in Northern Ireland after the 1998 Good Friday peace agreement.

He'd been suffering from a rare heart condition.
