Philippine's FM to defend Duterte's war on drugs at UN Human Rights Council

Philippines foreign minister on Thursday said he will defend his presidents controversial drug war at the United Nations in the coming weeks.


Perfecto Yasay intends to tell the Human Rights Council that the killings in President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs were not state-sponsored.

Border, immigration issues top agenda for US-Mexico meetings

U.S. President Donald Trump says U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly are talking about getting really bad dudes out of America and back to Mexico.

A new executive order on immigration reform has been delayed, while the Mexican Foreign minister is vowing to go to the United Nations to defend the rights of immigrants.

Iraqi suicide bomber proves to be a former Guantanamo detainee

The family of the suicide bomber who detonated a car bomb at an Iraqi army base earlier this week says he was a former inmate at Guantanamo Bay.

Abu-Zakariya al-Britani was released from Gitmo in 2004, and subsequently awarded one million dollars in compensation for alleged mistreatment while in the jail.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Russia announces new military branch to focus on information warfare

Sen. McCain traveled to northern Syria

U.S. Senator John McCain, chair of the U.S. Senate's Armed Services Committee and former presidential candidate, secretly traveled to northern Syria to see for himself the situation outside Raqqa.

He may be the first American lawmaker to visit the region controlled by the Kurds, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Rooney's agent in China for talks with Chinese Super League clubs

The agent for England football captain Wayne Rooney has travelled to China for talks with Chinese Super League clubs who want to discuss signing  the star player before their window closes next week.

Security officer for Dutch far-right politician arrested for leaking whereabouts to a gang

Syria peace talks begin in Geneva

Australia and Israel are expected to co-operate more on technological innovation and make it easier for people to travel between both countries, under newly signed leaders' agreements.

Teen's Landmark Case Helps Discrimination Victims

A teenager from the USA has won a landmark court case after she was
told she couldn't bring her service dog to school. The supreme court
has ruled that Ehlena Fry, who has cerebral palsy, can now pursue a

Trump Admin Withdraws Protection for Transgender Students

Handful of Protesters Arrested Protesting Dakota Access Oil Pipeline

Authorities have arrested a small group of activists protesting the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline after a deadline to leave the area. About 100 people voluntarily left the camp before the deadline.

Talks to get underway between US-Mexican officials

Talks are getting underway in Mexico between US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, US Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and members of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto's administration.

The visit comes the day after the US Department of Homeland Security vowed to step up deportations of undocumented immigrants.

The meetings could be tense, with Mexico's foreign minister telling the press earlier Wednesday that his country does not have to accept provisions imposed by other countries, that are not in Mexico's interests.

Top US General warns more troops might be needed to defeat ISIS

More American troops might be sent to Syria to try to defeat the self-declared Islamic State group.
