Chinese State Media Warn US Over South China Sea Islands

Chinese state run media have strongly criticised Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, after he said the US should deny Beijing access to new islands in the South China Sea.

Two state run newspapers ran editorials warning that such a move would lead to what they called a 'devastating confrontation'.

UK issues weather warnings


Weather warnings have been issued in the UK as the country braces itself for more snow, flooding and high winds.


Snowfall has caused transport delays on road, rail and at some airports. While some coastal areas have been issued with severe flood warnings.

France releases former Kosovo PM Haradinaj but he still may be extradited to Serbia on war crimes charges

The former prime minister of Kosovo who was arrested by French police last week on a Serbian request has been released in France.

Serbia accuses Ramush Haradinaj (pron: ra - moosh hara -din -eye) of war crimes for his role as a commander in the Kosovo conflict of the nineteen nineties.

Refugee Tripping Photographer Sentenced to Probation

The Hungarian photojournalist who was caught on camera tripping refugees near the Serbian boarder has been sentenced to three years probation for disorderly conduct.

The video footage of her committing the crime went viral and led to world wide condemnation, but still the photojournalist says she will appeal.

WINTER STORM CAUSES CHAOS IN UK

Thousands of people have been evacuated from homes on the east coast of England, with the UK in the grip of a winter storm.

There are fears of a large storm surge along the eastern coast.

And there are warnings in place for much of the UK of high wind, snow, and ice.

In parts of Scotland, seven inches of snow fell overnight and into Friday, causing disruption on roads.

Obstacles to Cyprus reunification remain

Talks between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders remain stuck on a couple of key stumbling blocks - including whether the tens of thousands of Cypriots who fled their homes in 1974 will get their property back, and whether any Turkish troops will remain in Cyrpus after reunification.

US ends special treatment for Cuban migrants

President Obama is ending a policy that gives automatic residency to Cuban nationals arriving on US soil.

Retired U.S. General James "mad dog" Mattis is prioritizing Russia in his confirmation hearings to become the next U.S. Defence Secretary.

Trump: Intelligence Boss Denounced ‘Compromising’ Dossier

Donald Trump has said that a top US spy boss denounced the recent dossier alleging that Russian intelligence has compromising information about the President Elect.
