Russia lays to rest assassinated Ambassador with full honours

LEAD:

Russia staged a memorial ceremony for Andrey Karlov, the Russian ambassador to Turkey who was shot down in Ankara on Monday by a man shouting "Allahu Akbar" and "Don't forget Aleppo". The ceremony was attended by high-level officials, including the Russian President. Major man-hunt underway for Berlin attack suspect

A major man-hunt is underway across Europe for the man suspected of carrying out the Berlin Christmas market attack which left 12 people dead...

It's emerged 24-year-old Anis Amri - a Tunisian national - had been under surveillance for 6 months on suspicion of planning a robbery in order to pay for guns.

Authorities in Germany have put up a 104-thousand dollar reward for information leading to his arrest.

German Interior Minister Ralf Jäger confirmed Amri had been on a watchlist...

President Obama to host Japan's PM Abe in Hawaii

U.S. President Barack Obama is set to host Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (on Tuesday December 27) for a visit which will include a stop at U.S.S. Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, some 75 years after Japan attacked America, bringing the U.S. into World War II.

Previously, (On May 27, 2016) the American president made an historic visit to Hiroshima, where the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb as part of its efforts to end World War II.

Daniel Kritenbrink, the Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the National Security Council confirmed the historic nature of the visit:

Resumption of Aleppo evacuations pave way for Assad to fully reclaim key city

Civilian evacuations and rebel departures from eastern Aleppo resumed Wednesday following a 24-hour delay, according to aid agencies and local media.


This final phase of the evacuations effectively pave the way for the Syrian government to take back full control of the former rebel stronghold.

U.S. rejects Kremlin claim that communications have frozen

Washington has rejected claims by the Kremlin that nearly all communication channels between the U.S. and Russia have been frozen.

Israel's Spacecom buying $161 milllion satellite from Boeing

At least 19 killed by gunshots during protests in the DRC

The United Nations states that at least 19 people in the Democratic
Republic of Congo have been killed by gunshots during protests against
the country's president.

A further 45 people have been injured as people took to the streets

Mexico fireworks blast investigated

Investigators are trying to determine what lead to an explosion at a
fireworks markets in Mexico that killed at least 31 people.

Another 70 were injured in the blast at the popular market on the
outskirts of Mexico City.
