Babies made from 3 people given approval in UK

Regulators in the UK have approved a form of IVF which will allow babies made from two women and one man...

The controversial decision is aimed at preventing children being born with fatal genetic diseases.

Russia readies to lead Syrian rebels out of Aleppo

Russia announced on Thursday it is preparing to help some 5000 Syrian rebels and their families remaining in eastern parts of Aleppo evacuate to the province of Idlib. The Syrian regime reportedly guarantees their safety. Russia's Defence Ministry said the evacuation was ordered by the Russian President. Our correspondent Daria Bondarchuk reports from Moscow.

Austrian lawmakers seize Hitler's birthplace after years of controversy

The house in which Adolf Hitler was born will now be seized by the Austrian parliament after lawmakers in Vienna voted in favour of the move.

The issue has been engulfed in controversy for many years with the house's owner refusing to sell or to do any renovations.

Football sex abuse hotline has received over 17 hundred calls

A special telephone hotline set up in the UK, in the wake of child sex abuse allegations in football has received over 17 hundred calls. 

The childrens' charity,  the NSPCC says 75 per cent of those calls have resulted a referral to police or other agencies.   From London, Catherine Drew reports.

First Afghans deported from Germany arrive in Kabul

A plan carrying thirty four failed asylum seekers arrived in Afghanistan from Germany.

Rebels Declare New Aleppo Evacuation Deal

Rebel groups in eastern Aleppo say a deal to evacuate the Syrian city has been agreed, after another agreement failed.

Under the terms of the previous deal, brokered by Russia and Turkey, rebel fighters and civilians were supposed to leave early on Wednesday, but that didn't happen.

UN says Syrian government blocking aid deliveries in Eastern Aleppo

Trump promises to help Silicon Valley as president

US President-elect Donald Trump promised to do "anything we can do" to help technology companies during a meeting with Silicon Valley leaders on Wednesday.

Mr Trump clashed with the tech industry on several issues, including immigration and government surveillance, during his election campaign.

But the Republican appears to be courting their advice now and has added the bosses of Uber and SpaceX to one of his advisory boards.

BA cabin crew vote for strike action over pay

US Says It Will Limit Arms Sales To Saudi Arabia

The Pentagon has said it will limit its arms sales to Saudi Arabia, after civilian casualties linked to air strikes in Yemen.

China and Trump in war of words over Taiwan

China has warned that any attempt by the new U.S. administration  to cultivate deeper relations with Taiwan would damage relations with Beijing.

Under China's 'One China Policy', Taiwan is not recognized as an independent state, but rather as part of mainland China. 

It's a position the U.S. has traditionally respected- until Donald Trump disturbed the status quo.
