UNSC to vote Weds on new, tougher DPRK sanctions

The United Nations Security Council will vote Wednesday on tougher sanctions against North Korea over its most recent nuclear test.

The sanctions include new diplomatic restrictions, asset freezes and travel bans, and measures that could cut the country's export earnings by a reported $800 million US dollars.

Supplies blocked as North Dakota governor calls for evacuation at protest site

North Dakota officials plan to block the deliveries of supplies to the protest by the Standing Rock Sioux and their supporters over the final segment of a petroleum pipeline.

The protest has been going on for months, and North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple has called for an evacuation because the brutal plains winter is arriving.

The tribe fears the pipeline could contaminate their sources of clean drinking water.

U.S. President Barack Obama is being given updates, and White House spokesman Josh Earnest says, negotiation is the way to settle the disputes.

Ohio attack probably terrorism

The Obama administration says the motivation for the attack at Ohio State University was probably terrorism and violent extremism.

U.S. officials also confirm the only fatality in the incident is likely to be the perpetrator, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, a refugee from Somalia.

Reuters reports the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility.

Workers at Chicago Airport On Strike for Wage Increase

US Admits ‘Unintentional Human Errors’ Led To Syria Strike

A military investigation in the US has found that unintentional human errors led to a coalition strike on Syrian forces in September, killing at least 15 government troops.

They were targeted by American, British, Australian and Danish fighter jets and drones.

Local Zika transmission detected in Texas

The US state of Texas has reported its first home-grown case of the Zika virus.

US Cyber Monday breaks records; GDP and consumer confidence strong in Q3

US economy grew at faster pace in 3rd Q

The US economy grew at its faster rate in more than two years in the third quarter. 

The government revised the third quarter figure from 2.9% up to 3.2% growth, following improved consumer spending.

Uganda King Charged with Murder


In Uganda, a traditional monarch Charles Mumbere has been charged with murder. 

The king of Rwenzururu is accused of murdering a police officer in March this year.

Investigators Looking at Possible Terrorism Motive in University Attack

Investigators are trying to determine why a Somali refugee carried out an unprovoked attack at Ohio State University on Monday.

UN: Aleppo fighting displaces 16,000 civilians

The United Nations says 16,000 people have fled Aleppo as the Syrian
government continues to make gains in the rebel-held parts of the
city.

Brazilian football team's plane crashes in Colombia

A charter aircraft carrying 81 people, including a top Brazilian football team, has crashed as it approached the Colombian city of Medellin. 

Colombian authorities say that six people were pulled alive from the plane, and one of them died on his way to hospital.
