INQUIRY CALLS AFTER GORILLA ESCAPE IN LONDON

There are calls for an inquiry after a gorilla escaped from its enclosure at London Zoo.

The western lowland silverback managed to get into a secure keepers' area, and the zoo insists the public was never in danger.

The Born Free Foundation, however, which wants zoos to be phased out, says the incident could have been far more dangerous and is demanding an investigation.

Armed police arrived at the scene on Thursday before the gorilla was tranquilised and taken back into captivity.
