Pres. Obama denounces Trump comments

U.S. President Barack Obama says the sexist comments made by Donald Trump illustrate character traits he would not advise for someone in the Oval Office.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are set to debate in St Louis (9pm eastern / 0300 GMT) while the American president has been supporting Democratic candidates in Chicago.

Trump heads to St Louis, under siege by Republicans

Donald Trump is indicating that he'll force Hillary Clinton to try and defend her husband's treatment of women when the two Presidential candidates meet for a TV debate in a few hours time.


Leading Republicans have rescinded their support for Mr. Trump's Presidential candidacy after he was heard boasting of groping women on a leaked videotape.

Wall St waits for Fed minutes, retail sales

Top Republicans are scrambling to distance themselves from Donald Trump after the release of an audiotape recorded 11 years ago in which he boasts about groping women.


Mr. Trump was speaking to the host of a celebrity TV show and does not appear to have known his remarks were being recorded.


Hillary Clinton is calling them "horrific".

U.S accuses Russia of election cyber attacks

The U.S government has accused Russia of cyber attacks against
Democratic Party organisations in America.

It claims hackers, backed by the Russian government, could have been
using cyber attacks to disrupt the U.S. election.

Haiti death toll jumps to 800 but UN says hurricane's full impact still unknown

As the death toll from Hurricane Matthew in Haiti soars to more than 800, the United Nations is warning that it could take days for the full impact to emerge.

Matthew hits Florida, threatens other states

Hurricane Matthew is continuing to push north after raking parts of the Florida coast with winds of up to 120 miles per hour [200 kph].

Mandatory evacuation orders remain in place for parts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Widespread flooding is expected as the storm pushes the Atlantic Ccean inland, inundating homes.

UN Security Council disagree over Syria resolution

The United Nations Security Council has clashed over a new draft
resolution for Syria aimed at ending the bombardment of Aleppo.

Russia has disagreed with the wording of a French draft resolution
which proposes grounding all war planes over the city, including
Russian jets.

The UN envoy for Syria, briefing the Council, put forward his own
proposal - to lead rebels out of the city if Russia and the Syrian
government agree to stop the shelling.

Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said if the French
resolution came to a vote not everyone on the Council would be in
agreement.

UN Human Rights Watchdog Calls on Saudi Arabia To End ‘Severe’ Discrimination
