Girls spend more of their childhoods on unpaid chores, according to UN report

INTRO:
Girls have spent 40% more time on household chores, according to a new
report out of the United Nations.

The UN children's agency has said this form of unpaid labor interferes
with girls' opportunities to learn and grow.

US jobs data worse than expected

The US economy added 156,000 new jobs in September, fewer than expected.

The unemployment rate also ticked up point one of a percent.

Philippines says it will end joint-US patrols in South China Sea

The Philippines defence chief says future naval exercises with the U.S. military in the disputed South China Sea will be suspended.

In a statement on Friday, Delfin Lorenzana said the decision was at the order of the country's President.

Kerry calls for Russia, Syria to face war crimes investigation

Trump says 70 percent of federal regulations 'can go'

Donald Trump said he'd cut as many as 70 percent of federal regulations if elected US president.

Hours earlier, an adviser to Mr Trump said the Republican nominee would seek to cut 10 percent of regulations.

UN Human Rights Watchdog Calls on Saudi Arabia To End ‘Severe’ Discrimination

A UN Human Rights watchdog has called on Saudi Arabia to end what it calls 'severe discrimination' against girls, and to repeal laws it says allows children to be executed.

It comes as the Committee on the Rights of the Child has reported the conclusions of its review of the kingdom's children's rights record.

6 US soldiers, 2 others charged with reselling US military equipment
