UK Labour Party Launches Leadership Contest

The Labour General Secretary has said it has received significant nominations for a challenge to Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the opposition party.

Angela Eagle, the former shadow cabinet minister launched her bid for the position, but whether Jeremy Corbyn’s name will be on the ballot is still up for debate.

Osborne wants 'more outward-looking Britain' post-Brexit

The UK Chancellor George Osborne has said he wants to create a 'more outward-looking, global-facing Britain' following the country's vote to leave the European Union.

In an article he wrote for the US newspaper the Wall Street Journal, Mr Osborne said now a Brexit is underway it is important for Britain and America to have closer economic ties.

This comes ahead of the Chancellor's visit to New York for talks with major investors.

EU interviewing for position of new UK commissioner after brexit vote

TANZANIA BANS CHILD MARRIAGE

IAAF confirms Rio ban for majority of Russian athletes

Australian Prime Minister prepares to form new government

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been given the royal nod to form a government as the Nationals prepare a wishlist for a new coalition agreement.
The prime minister met with Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Martin Parkinson in Canberra on Monday, a day after Labor leader Bill Shorten conceded defeat in the federal election.

US retail sales in focus as earnings season begins

Data in the week ahead is likely to show another month of increased retail sales in the United States.

US Regulators Sanction Blood Lab Theranos

US health regulators have banned the founder and CEO of Theranos from owning and running a medical laboratory for two year.

The company claimed its technology enabled it to perform blood tests with blood from a pinprick instead of a traditional blood draw.
