CAMERON MAKES BREXIT STATEMENT TO COMMONS

Germany says there can be no informal Brexit talks before the UK officially starts the process leading to it leaving the European Union.

Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron says Article 50 will not be triggered until his successor has been chosen.

He's stepping aside following Britain's vote to leave the EU and a new leader will be chosen by the Conservative Party by September 2nd.

Investors in the United States are preparing for another volatile day
of trading as Britain's decision to leave the European Union continues
to weigh on global markets.

Wall Street posted big losses on Friday after the historic vote as
economists assess the implications that the Brexit vote may have.

Kerry says special relationship with UK will continue on visit to Brussels

US secretary of state John Kerry has reasserted his position that the US will continue to work with the European Union and the UK despite the British vote to leave the EU.

52 per cent of the UK voted to exit the EU last week which has left the British government and opposition in the parliament in chaos.

John Kerry has been talking in Brussels ahead of a visit to London and says the US will keep its so called special relationship with Great Britain.

UK CABINET AGREES 'BREXIT UNIT'

Britain's government has opened a new unit of civil servants to draft options for negotiations with the European Union after last week's Brexit vote.

Prime Minister David Cameron chaired cabinet for the first time since the EU referendum.

UK Chancellor Says Britain is Prepared for Brexit

The British Chancellor, George Osborne, has tried to calm fears over Brexit after Britons voted to leave the EU 52% to 48%, triggering market turmoil on Friday.

EU leaders meet in Berlin to agree Brexit response

German chancellor Angela Merkel, French president Francois Hollande and Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi are meeting in Berlin to agree a joint strategy on Brexit.
A split between European leaders seemed to open up at the weekend - with the French foreign minister insisting Britain leave the EU as soon as possible, while the German government seems more inclined to give the UK time.

BORIS JOHNSON URGES CALM AFTER BREXIT

One of the front-runners to become Britain's next Prime Minister says EU nationals living in the UK will have their rights protected as the country moves towards a Brexit.

Boris Johnson has also welcomed Chancellor George Osborne's attempts to calm the markets following last week's British vote to leave the EU.

Boris Johnson wrote in a newspaper column that he believes Britain's new relationship with the EU will end up looking much like it used to - but with sovereignty restored to the UK.

And he's welcomed George Osborne's message of stability about the UK economy.

Russian court orders Kirov governor be kept in custody

OSBORNE: UK OPEN FOR BUSINESS

UK Finance Minister George Osborne has attempted to restore calm to financial markets by insisting the British economy is strong enough to weather the effects of its Brexit vote.

Britain voted last week to leave the European Union despite warnings from economists that doing so would have a negative effect on growth.

Mr Osborne gave an emergency statement before financial markets opened in London in which he also insisted there was no rush for Britain to trigger Article 50 - which sees negotiations begin with the EU on the manner of the UK's departure.

Pope Says Church Should Apologize to Gay Community

24 dead in West Virginia flooding

At least 24 are dead in flooding across in West Virginia, and more rain is forecast to fall.

Thousands lost power and the historic luxury resort the Greenbrier had to cancel a golf tournament and convert itself into a shelter for more than 200 left homeless.

Time not on side of Yemen people - Ban Ki-Moon

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is urging the delegates to a peace conference in Kuwait to find a compromise, because time is not on the side of the Yemeni people, with nearly 9,000 killed since March 2015 in civil war.

His warning came as reports of Saudi airstrikes killing seven in Khawlan district, southeast of the capital Sanaa.

At the conference, Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said the delegates have a moral and political responsibility to secure peace.

Panama officially celebrates renovated canal

A Chinese cargo ship was the first boat to official make its way through the renovated Panama Canal, after more than $5 billion in renovations.

The canal was originally built more than 100 years ago under U.S. leadership and revolutionized the shipping industry.
