Led Zeppelin Copyright Trial Kicks Off in LA

Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page appeared in
a downtown Los Angeles court Tuesday for a civil trial in which they
are accused of stealing the opening chords of their 1971 classic hit
"Stairway to Heaven" from another band. A jury was selected after a
few Zeppelin fans were dismissed from the pool.

A federal court in the United States has ruled high speed internet service can be defined as a utility. 
The sweeping decision clears the way for more rigorous policing of broadband providers and greater protections for web users.

White House plans to increase access to organ transplants, speed up wait times

US President Barack Obama has launched a major organ transplant initiative to cut down the wait times for potential transplant patients to receive life-saving organs.


The initiative also seeks to increase the number of transplants and includes nearly $200 million dollars for research and development.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry urges Venezuelan leaders to respect democracy

US Secretary of State Kerry has urged Venezuelan leaders to respect freedom of expression and release political prisoners. 

Mr Kerry's comments, made at a meeting of the Organization of American States in the Dominican Republic, were not well received by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez, who portrayed the top U.S. diplomat as a bully.

Russian Striker Hits Back at 'Suspended Disqualification' from Euro 2016


Russian footballer Artem Dzyuba has criticised the decision by European football's governing body to disqualify his team if its fans display any more violence during Euro 2016 games.

The striker said the move could be politically motivated - amid reports that Russian fans have continued to attack English supporters in the French city of Lille.

Russian Government Hackers Penetrate DNC

The Democratic National Committee reports two Russian government hackers have penetrated the Committee’s  computer network.

Migrant children continue to face beatings, rape as they try to reach Europe: UN

Migrant children face beatings, rape and forced labor as they try to
reach Europe from Libya, according to a new report from the United
Nations children's fund -- or UNICEF.

The agency also found that many of the children fleeing war and
poverty were unaccompanied in their travels.

Obama bashes Trump's Muslim immigration ban; calls for increase in gun control

US President Barack Obama has blasted Donald Trump's plan to bar Muslims from immigrating to the US, calling it dangerous, sloppy, and un-American.

He said proposals like Mr Trump's are likely to increase the problem of radicalization, by fueling the notion that the US government is anti-Muslim.

He said America was founded on the values of pluralism and freedom of religion.

He also addressed Donald's Trump continuing calls for the President to use the term "radical Islam" when describing foreign extremists.

Orlando shooting victim describes brutal attack

Victims of the deadly shooting in an Orlando nightclub have described playing dead to survive.

26 year old Angel Colon was trapped inside the Pulse night club while the shooting happened.

He was shot multiple times in his leg, in his hand, and in his hip, and was trampled over by others trying to escape the club; despite all this he managed to survive.

He described the horrifying ordeal.

The doctors and surgeons at Orlando Regional Medical Center are being praised for their quick response to the shooting.

The majority of attack victims were treated there. Hospital staff describe a traumatic scene, where they had to make quick calls on which of the many injured needed to be first sent in to surgery.

Multiple gunshot wound survivor Angel Colon thanked the doctors for their care.

Reports: Orlando gunman's wife admits prior knowledge of attack

The wife of the Orlando gunman is reported to be co-operating with the FBI and has told them that she tried to talk Omar Mateen out of the attack on the Pulse nightclub.


Meanwhile doctors say 6 people remain in critical condition in hospital, and the death toll - which stands at 49 victims - could rise.

Trump criticised over 'Washington Post ban'

Donald Trump's decision to ban the "Washington Post" from covering his campaign events, has been met with strong condemnation from the sections of the US press Tuesday.

More than twenty victims of the nightclub attack in Orlando remain hospitalized, with a few still in grave condition.

Ethiopia claims it was provoked by Eritrea


The government of Ethiopia has confirmed that its soldiers were involved in a battle with soldiers from Eritrea.


The fight which began on Sunday morning took place in the border region of the two countries.


Coletta Wanjohi reports.



According to the Government of Ethiopia, the fight in the Tsorona border region ended on Monday.


The country's minister for communication Getachew Redda confirmed that there were casualties on both sides.


He claims the Ethiopian government was provoked by Eritrea and responded by launching a counteroffensive.


Residents in the border regions fear that the fighting might resume.


Both countries have both failed to uphold the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities they signed in Algiers in 2000.

Russia Given ‘Suspended Disqualification’ from Euro 2016 Over Fan Violence

European football's governing body has officially warned the Russian Football Union that its team will be expelled from the Euro 2016 tournament if Russian fans are involved in any more violence inside stadiums.

The 'suspended disqualification' comes after clashes between Russian and and English fans during a match in Marseille on Saturday night.

Vote Leave says EU funding safe after Brexit

Vote Leave campaigners say those who receive funding from the European Union would get the same amount of money if the UK voted to Leave the EU in the upcoming referendum.

A number of UK Ministers have signed and open letter ensuring EU funded projects that their money would be safe.

But Remain campaigners say a Brexit would trigger more spending cuts.

Murder of policeman in Paris suburbs "was a terrorist attack"

The French interior minister says the murder of a police officer and his partner in the Paris suburbs by a man claiming allegiance to the so-called Islamic State is a terrorist act.  
The man stabbed the officer to death and took a woman and child hostage in their home before being killed by police.

France's Interior Minister says the killing of a policeman near Paris was an act of terrorism.

The policeman was stabbed to death by a man who then took a woman and child hostage in Magnanville.

After a police raid, the body of the policeman's partner was found.

French media are reporting the suspected attacker had a conviction for terrorism offences.

Islamic State have claimed the attack, which takes place with the country on high alert for Euro 2016.
