Australian 60 minutes crew face up to 20 years in jail

Four Australian 60 Minutes TV crew members, including Channel Nine reporter Tara Brown, and a Brisbane mother could face up to 20 years in jail after Lebanese authorities charged them over an alleged kidnapping attempt.

Ukraine in search of new Prime Minister to end political crisis

Leading Ukrainian political party reportedly agreed on the candidate of future Prime Minister. The position has been vacant since Arseny Yatsenyuk stepped down on April 10. The Parliament has to vote on a new cabinet of ministers and Prime Minister to lead the country out of the political stalemate. Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.

Macedonian president pardons everyone involved in government corruption scandal

The president of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has pardoned all politicians who were wrapped up in a corruotion scandal.

The Balkan country has been in political turmoil since wiretapped recordings allegedly showed widespread corruption among ministers.

UK MINISTER UNDER PRESSURE OVER RELATIONSHIP WITH ESCORT

Britain's culture minister has received the backing of Downing Street after it emerged he'd had a relationship with a sex worker.

The opposition Labour Party says it raises conflict-of-interest questions over John Whittingdale whose mandate as minister includes decisions over the regulation of the press.

Four newspapers knew about the relationship but didn't publish details.

John Whittingdale says he did not know the woman was an escort when he met her, and that the relationship ended before he became Culture Secretary.

German comedian under police protection after Turkey insult


The German comedian who insulted Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan by reading out an obscene poem about the President on television, has been placed under police protection.


It's not immediately clear whether a threat against the comedian has ben made, instead it appears the move is precautionary.

Jury To Decide If Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' Riff Was Stolen

A U.S. jury will decide whether the opening section of rock band Led
Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," one of the most famous songs in rock
history, was lifted from a lesser-known U.S. band called Spirit.
Zeppelin's lead singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page will face
a copyright trial next month after a US district judge in Los Angeles
ruled that the 1971 release deserves a closer listen.

Pentagon Says U.S. Air Strikes Kill al-Shabaab Militants

U.S. air strikes have killed  about a dozen suspected militants from the al-Qaeda-linked group al-Shabaab
in southern Somalia, according to the Pentagon.

Uber Releases Transparency Report

The ride-hailing company Uber has lifted the curtain for the first time on how it engages with regulators and law enforcement agencies. 

Uber’s dealings with the agencies have come under scrutiny recently after an Uber driver was charged with six counts of murder.

Music producer David Gest found dead

The reality TV star and music producer David Gest has been found dead in a London hotel room.

Guest was best known for his marriage to ex-wife Liza Minelli as well as his appearance on reality TV. 

London Ambulance Service were called to the hotel, but Guest was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 62 years old.

Boko Haram’s use of child bombers spikes

According to the United Nations child agency Unicef one in five
suicide attacks by Boko Haram is carried out by a child.

The insurgency is in its seventh year and Unicef estimate that 1.3
million children across Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon have been
forced to flee their homes.

IMF slashes global growth outlook, warns against 'derailing recovery'

Russian attack helicopter crashes in Syria
