Russia says jailed Ukrainian pilot Savchenko will serve her time

German authorities have found no links between two men arrested last week and the attacks in Brussels that killed at least 31 people, contradicting earlier reports.

A series of arrests and police raids in multiple countries followed the deadly attacks.

US condemns Taliban attacks in Lahore, Pakistan

The United States government has condemned the Taliban attacks in
Lahore, Pakistan on Sunday.

Soon after recovery operations began, the faction claimed
responsibility for the suicide bombing that has claimed several dozen
lives so far.

UN welcomes Palymra recapture from ISIS


Russian backed Syrian government forces have reportedly driven ISIS out of the Syrian town of Palmyra, in the biggest defeat for the group in two years.

Calm restored at Place de la Bourse

Riot police have restored calm at Place de La Bourse in Brussels, where clashes broke out amidst an otherwise peaceful scene. 

Authorities were deployed when anti-Muslim protesters disrupted the calm.

Port of L.A. Paid Chinese Ships To Upgrade, Didn't Reap Benefits

The Port of Los Angeles in California paid a Chinese government-owned
shipping company $5 million dollars in 2005 to equip their cargo
vessels to plug into electric power while at dock to keep their diesel
engines from polluting neighborhoods near the harbor. But the LA Times
reports that China Shipping stopped sending the equipped vessels to
Los Angeles after using the allocated money.

DNA of suspected Brussels suicide bomber found at Paris attack sites

The DNA of a second suspected suicide bomber in Tuesday's attacks on Brussels, has been found at the sites of the Paris attacks in November.

Federal prosecutors believe that 24 year-old Najim Laachraoui was the suspected bomb-maker involved in the Paris attacks, on November 13. 

The news that his DNA had been linked to the Paris attacks, came as three more people were arrested in Brussels in connection to Tuesday's attack on the city's metro and international airport.

'Russian soldier's' lawyer found dead

LEAD:


The lawyer of two Russian servicemen on trial in Ukraine has been found dead after disappearing in the middle of his trial in Kiev.  Yuriy Hrabovsky's body was found in a forest 125km south of Kiev.  Officials in Ukraine say two men were in custody in connection with the lawyer's death.  Julia Lyubova has the details.

Corporate profits dip but GDP figure revised up in Q4

The United States economy grew more than previously expected in the
fourth quarter thanks to stronger than expected consumer spending.

Gross domestic product for Q4 has been revised up to an annualized
rate of 1.4% instead of the previously predicted 1%.

But it's still shy of the 2% figure posted in the third quarter as
corporate profits fell again.
