FORMER EPL PLAYER FOUND GUILTY OF CHILD SEX CHARGE

Former English Premier League footballer Adam Johnson has been found guilty of sexual activity with a 15 year-old girl.

The former Sunderland and England player had admitted grooming and kissing the girl at the start of his trial - but denied two further counts.

A jury found him guilty of one and not guilty of the other.

Mexican Drug Lord requests extradition to the United States

Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman has requested his lawyers expedite his extradition to the United States.

Guzman's lawyer said El Chapo is frustrated with his living conditions in the maximum security prison where he is being held.

Russian prosecutors call for 23 years in jail for Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko

Prosecutors in Russia have called for a 23 year jail sentence for the Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko who is accused of involvement in the deaths of two Russian journalists in East Ukraine.

The closing statements in Savchenko's trial are underway and a verdict is expected to come soon.

American astronaut Scott Kelly is finally back on Earth after spending nearly a year living aboard the International Space Station.

US Supreme Court to hear key case on abortion rights

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear the first case in nine years on a woman's right to an abortion.

Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump have each come out on top after the biggest day of voting in the US Presidential nomination contest so far.

Uzbek woman who severed child's head appears in court

In Russia, a woman accused of murdering a child in her care and brandishing the child's severed head outside a Moscow metro station, said that 'Allah ordered' her to carry out the act. 38-year-old Uzbek national appeared in a Moscow court on Wednesday where she accepted her guilt. Ukrainian pilot charged by Russia threatens hunger strike

The trial of the Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko accused of involvement in the deaths of two Russian journalists in eastern Ukraine resumed on Wednesday in Russia. The suspect pledges to go on hunger strike if found guilty and not extradited to Ukraine within 10 days after the verdict.  Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.
