Bookseller Lee Bo Gives Televised Interview

A bookseller who went missing from Hong Kong has appeared on Chinese television claiming that he had not been abducted.

Lee Bo is one of five men involved in the publishing or sale of literature critical of China's leaders. Many believe his television interview was done under duress.

ICC tries alleged Islamist militant for destroying cultural heritage

An alleged Islamist militant from Mali has become the first person to appear at the International Criminal Court in the Hague charged with damaging humanity's cultural heritage.

Ahmad al-Faqi al-Mahdi is accused of masterminding the destruction of several mausoleums in Timbuktu during the conflict there in 2012.

US embassy urges Iraqis to evacuate ahead of dam collapse

The largest dam in Iraq is in danger of collapse, according to
officials from the US embassy in Iraq.

The Mosul dam was briefly seized by ISIS last year, and there are
fears that if it bursts, the flooding could kill nearly 1 and a half
million people.

Tech Companies Unite To Support Apple Inc.

Several tech companies, including Google's parent Alphabet Inc.,
Facebook and Microsoft plan to file a joint motion supporting Apple in
its court fight against the Justice Department over unlocking an
alleged terrorist's iPhone. More than 25 major tech firms, media
organizations and civil liberties groups stepped up to show support,
revealing they are not comfortable with the government's request to
tap security settings on personal devices.

PENTAGON: US Fight against ISIS ongoing amid Syria ceasfire

"Momentum is now on our side" - how defence chief Ash Carter described the US-led fight against the so-called Islamic State.

During a Pentagon briefing, Mr Carter said Washington-backed forces have pushed ISIS out of the Syrian town of Shaddadi - a key strategic location for the extremists.

A cessation of hostilities in Syria signed last week between the US and Russia came into force on Saturday.

The US defense secretary said the agreement - a ceasefire between the Syrian government forces and rebels fighters - must be upheld for the sake of the Syrian people...

US Student Detained in North Korea Apologises

An American student who has been arrested in North Korea has publicly apologised for his alleged crime, trying to steal a political banner from his hotel.

Russia raising concerns of Turkish military movements on Syrian border

Russia is raising concerns about Turkish military movements along the border with Syria as a fragile ceasefire in the country remains.

Woman arrested in Moscow for child 'beheading'

"Spotlight" Wins Top Honors at Hollywood's Annual Academy Awards

Hollywood's biggest night came to a nail-biting finish Sunday, as
"Spotlight" a film about journalists investigating abuse in the
Catholic Church won best picture. Leonardo DiCaprio, a six-time
nominee favored to win for his lead in "The Revenant" was not
disappointed, nor was Brie Larson who took home a best actress trophy
for her performance in "Room."
