Saudi Arabia accuses Russian, Syrian forces of ceasefire violation

As fragile ceasefire in Syria announced last Saturday continues to hold, Saudi Arabia accused Syrian government forces and their ally, Russia, of "ceasefire violations". The accusations come amid concerns Damascus and Moscow may not adhere to the truce conditions and use it as a pretext to continue its airstrikes on rebel-held territories. EU challenges Belgian passport controls

"Spotlight" Wins Top Honors at Hollywood's Annual Academy Awards

Hollywood's biggest night came to a nail-biting finish Sunday, as
"Spotlight" a film about journalists investigating abuse in the
Catholic Church won best picture. Leonardo DiCaprio, a six-time
nominee favored to win for his lead in "The Revenant" was not
disappointed, nor was Brie Larson who took home a best actress trophy
for her performance in "Room."

Host Chris Rock addressed the lack of diversity in the films
nominated, but show went on in true Hollywood fashion.

UN details Syrian ceasefire aid plan

The United Nations is planning to deliver aid to 150,000 besieged
civilians during the temporary ceasefire in Syria.

The truce started on Saturday, but there have been reports that the

Parliamentary questions over Brexit campaiging

Britain's top civil servant is to be questioned by lawmakers in
parliament this week over guidance he issued that government ministers
set to campaign for the UK to leave the European Union should not have
access to certain papers.

Referendum-related material is to be withheld from ministers who are

Five rescue workers die in second blast at Russian coal mine

A second blast at a coal mine in Russia has killed five people trying to rescue survivors from an initial explosion. 

The death toll is now standing at 36 including 26 miners who were trapped after the first blast on Thursday.

Report Reveals California Methane Leak 'largest in US history'

A scientific analysis of a natural gas leak near Los Angeles reveals

Gianni Infantino elected as Fifa President

After a second round of voting, Gianni Infantino has been elected as Fifa's new president.


He replaces Sepp Blatter, who has held the job since 1998, but stepped down over allegations of corruption into the footballing body and criminal investigations at Fifa.


Ahead of the presidential polls, new reforms were voted in and Infantino, the Uefa general secretary will now be tasked with the job of implementing those reforms.

US Fourth Quarter GDP Growth Revised Higher

America's economic growth slowed down in the fourth quarter of 2015, but not as much as was initially thought, according to a new estimate from the US Commerce Department.
