White House: Trump not qualified to be President

The White House says that Donald Trump has effectively disqualified himself from the race for the American Presidency as a result of his threat to close the nation's borders to Muslims.


Leading Republicans are also assailing the billionaire property developer, who remains the party's front-runner in the race for the Presidential nomination.

White House says Trump has "Disqualified Himself" Over Muslim Ban Proposal

The White House says Donald Trump has effectively disqualified himself from running for president after saying he would  prevent all Muslims from entering the country. 

The comments from the Republican front-runner were made in response to a terrorist attack in California which appear to be inspired by the Islamic State organization.

The US Constitution prohibits discrimination on the basis of religious affiliation.

Florida mayor wants to ban Trump from city

Donald Trump is facing a backlash for suggesting the US should ban all Muslims from entering the country.

The presidential candidate's comments have been roundly criticized by his Republican rivals.

And a mayor in Florida responded by saying he'd like to ban Trump from entering his city.

Firestorm continues over Trump's Muslim ban proposal

Donald Trump's call to prevent Muslims from entering the United States has provoked an international furore.

The American presidential candidate is drawing fire from Democrats and fellow Republicans for the proposal.

But one of his rivals for the Republican nomination, Ted Cruz, is refusing to criticize Mr Trump, even though he doesn't endorse the highly controversial idea.

New Yorkers react to Trump's proposed Muslim ban

Republican candidates for the US Presidency are hitting back at Donald Trump after he called for America's borders to be closed to all Muslims.

The former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush called Mr. Trump's proposal "unhinged".

Other Republican candidates including Senator Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina called the idea "ridiculous" and "dangerous".

But some commuters during New York's rush hour had mixed views on Mr. Trump's ideas.

FBI: San Bernadino Attackers Were Long Radicalised

PISTORIUS BAILED AHEAD OF SENTENCING

South African athlete Oscar Pistorius has been granted bail while he awaits sentencing for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

That hearing is due to take place next year on 18 April after his conviction was changed from manslaughter to murder.

He's had to hand over his passport and will be under house arrest and will be electronically tagged, but can leave the house at times.

He is facing a minimum 15 year sentence.

But a South African court agreed he could spend Christmas at home with his family before sentencing takes place.

Thousands of people are still without power in the north of England, as the clean-up operation continues after Storm Desmond.

Thousands more people have been evacuated from their properties because of flooding, and further heavy rain is expected later this week.
