German rapper turned ISIS fighter killed in airstrikes

A German rapper who joined the ranks of ISIS has been killed by a U.S. airstrike in Syria. 

DENNIS Cuspert gained notoriety for appearing in numerous ISIS videos and recruiting German fighters to the militant group.

Tanzania Opposition Calls for Election Recount, Zanzibar Poll Nullified

Dr. John Magufuli was declared Tanzania's next President Thursday, but
he took victory with just 58% of the vote making this the tightest
contest in Tanzania's history. Dr. Magufuli belongs to the party that
has ruled the party since independence, the CCM, and he is promised to
create industry and jobs over the next five years.

Syrian political settlement is focus of Vienna talks - US

The Obama administration wants to focus on a possible political settlement for Syria during the talks in Vienna, which are including Iranian representatives for the first time.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry did not mince words when he described the challenge of the Vienna talks as finding a way out of hell.

At the White House, spokesman Josh Earnest said it's in Tehran's interest to find a political solution for the country they've been propping up.

US, China discuss encounters in South China Sea

The Chinese defence ministry is vowing "to take all necessary measures in accordance with the need," following an American warship sailing through international waters  and past islands claimed as sovereign by Beijing.

U.S. and Chinese naval officials held talks, and promised to stick to the protocols of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea for militaries.

Back in Washington, White House spokesman Josh Earnest says the U.S. military plans to operate as normal in the South China Sea.

US confirms release of Guantanamo Bay detainee

The White House is confirming Ahmed Ould Abdel al-Aziz has been transferred to his home country of Mauritania after 13 years in detenion.

Mr. abdel al-Aziz was originally captured in Karachi Pakistan, but he was never charged with any crimes, and his release was actually approved in 2009, although not carried out until recently.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest would only confirm his release, not that any apology is in the offing.

US GDP data misses estimates

The United States economy slowed sharply in the third quarter as
businesses cut back on restocking their warehouses.

Gross domestic product was up at a very healthy 3.9% last quarter but
according to the US Commerce Department, the economy in Q3 grew at a
sluggish annualized rate of 1.5%.

Turkey requested 3 billion euro per year in aid to cooperate with EU over refugee and migrant crisis

The Turkish government wants the 3 billion euro in aid every year from the European Union in exchange for cooperation in the ongoing refugee and migrant crisis - reports the EU Observer.

Latino leaders protest outside GOP debate

Hundreds of protesters gathered near the Republican debate venue in Boulder, Colorado to protest what they called Donald Trump's racist comments about immigrants and especially Mexicans.

The protests were led by top leaders from the Latino community, including former U.S. Secretary of Transportation and Energy Federico Pena.

GOP Candidates Attack Media, Spare Each Other In Latest Debate

Republican presidential hopefuls took the stage in the US state of
Colorado Wednesday, for a televised debate centered on the the
economy. The top 10 polling GOP candidates tackled topics from fiscal
policy to bankruptcy. Republican front runner Donald Trump was
expected to spar with Neurosurgeon Ben Carson who is catching up in

Third U.S. Republican Debate Kicks Off In Colorado

Republican presidential hopefuls took the stage in Colorado Wednesday
for a televised debate centered on the the economy. America's CNBC
