EU interior ministers meet to discuss refugee crisis

European Union interior ministers are meeting for a second time in two weeks to try to reach an agreement on how to resettle 120,000 refugees.

But Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic remain opposed to the mandatory quota scheme proposed by the EU and championed by Germany, which has called for more shared solidarity.

Former Russian tycoon launches $10 billion claim against the Kremlin

Russian tycoon Sergei Pugachev filed a $10 billion suit against Russia. He claims the allies of the Kremlin carved up his business empire when he fell out of favor with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The former oligarch turned Russia's critic fled the country in 2011 amidst accusations of embezzlement, the charges he denied. Daria Bondarchuk reports from Moscow.

EU leaders meet for emergency summit on refugee/migrant crisis

European Union leaders are meeting in Brussels to discuss ways to resolve the ongoing refugee and migrant crisis.

EU interior ministers agreed a plan Tuesday to impose a voluntary quota system to relocate 120 thousand people across the bloc, but many eastern member states say they will not take part in the plan.

US unclear on intentions behind Russia's military build-up in Syria

The US says it is unclear what the intentions are behind Russia's continued military buildup in Syria.

As the Obama administration repeated its position that it wants Russia to join the U.S. and partners in the fight against ISIS, it once again condemned any support given by Moscow to the Assad regime.

On Monday the US State department said it was unable to verify a Reuters news agency report that Russia had begun flying drone surveillance missions in Syria.

Spokesperson John Kirby said military communication between the US and Russia was still needed to address concerns over Syria...

US "deeply concerned" about reports of child abuse by Afghan armed forces

The White House says it's encouraging the Afghan government to take action to stem child abuse by members of the country's armed forces.

The move follows claims that members of the US Marine Corps were ordered to ignore the abuse of Afghan boys that took place on American military bases.

Samples taken at Iranian military site

According to the United Nations nuclear agency, environmental samples
have been taken at Iran's Parchin military site.

Inspectors had previously only seen parts of the complex on satellite
