UNSG calls for calm as tensions rise between North and South Korea

The United Nations Secretary General is calling on North and South Korea to calm down, as escalating tensions this week led to an exchange of fire between both countries, and a threat of war from the North.

US military pauses military exercises with South Korea


The U.S. military has put it's military exercises with South Korea on hold, citing increasing tensions in the region.

North Korea's ruler Kim Jong Un has put his troops on a level of a 'quasi-state of war' - after firing artillery shells over the border.

Wall St drops amid global concerns

US markets are in free fall with the Dow Jones falling more than 350 points.

It follows the worst drop in 18 months on Thursday, with global fears

First female soldiers graduate from 'elite' US Army training


Two female soldiers have become the first women to graduate from US Army Ranger School

The achievement of Captain Kristen Griest and 1st Lieutenant. Shaye Haver and 94 men was honored at a ceremony at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Peru's Congress Approves Aerial Interdiction


Peru's Congress has unanimously passed a bill allowing the country's air force to shoot down small airplanes believed to be carrying illegal drugs.

US-trained "Moderate" Syrian Rebel Group to be Deployed

A second group of American-trained rebel fighters could be deployed to Syria within weeks, according to the Reuters news agency.

British Peer says PM could 'pull plug' on Chilcot Inquiry

A leading peer in Britain's House of Lords has said that the Prime Minister could 'pull the plug' on the Chilcot inquiry into the the Iraq War.


The independent investigation was set up in 2009 and its findings were expected to be published in 2011, but its chairman told the Prime Minster David Cameron that he could not set a timetable for the report.

Obama pens letter pledging military options remain open on Iran

U.S. President Barack Obama has been forced to pledge that military options remain on the table, in a bid to push an international deal on Iran through Congress.

FYR Macedonia police clash with migrants

Police in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia have reportedly used tear gas to stop thousands of migrants trying to cross the border from Greece.

UN tallies 13 cases of sex abuse allegations in CAR in less than a year

In response to multiple sexual allegations against its peacekeepers, the deputy chief of the United Nations mission in the Central African Republic on Thursday spoke with reporters in New York.
