US Defence Secretary aims to improve relations with Israel

US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter is flying to Israel to try to repair relations following the controversial Iranian nuclear deal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been very critical of the deal, saying it will give Iran more money to sponsor terrorism, and eventually allow it to get nuclear weapons.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest says despite differences between Israel and the United States, there are still plenty of security issues for Mr Carter to discuss in Israel, including ways to prevent Iran from sponsoring Hizbollah and other militant groups.
