Protesters take to streets in Baltimore after death of man in police custody

Protesters have begun what they say will be a week of demonstrations in Baltimore in the U.S. state of Maryland after a young black man died from a spinal injury he suffered while in police custody.

Auschwitz survivor confronts former guard

A woman who was imprisoned at the Auschwitz concentration camp took the stand on the second day of the trial of a former guard there. 

The accused, 93-year-old Oskar Groening [GROONING], is likely one of the last Nazis to potentially face punishment for alleged war crimes.

US Welcomes Halt To Saudi Airstrikes In Yemen


The White House has welcomed a decision by Saudi Arabia to halt its bombing campaign against a rebel group in Yemen.

The airstrikes, which were receiving some logistical and intelligence support from the US, had drawn criticism for causing civilian deaths and a humanitarian crisis.

Google to reveal wireless service, report says

Google is planning to launch its own wireless service, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Airlines Alerted to Watch Out for Hackers

The FBI has issued a formal alert telling airlines to watch out for hackers.

The alert follows an on board tweet from a security expert who joked about being able to hack into the wi-fi network on a United Airlines plane.

Groups say most US companies fail to disclose use of 'conflict minerals'

Most American companies are failing to find out and disclose whether they're using so-called 'conflict minerals' from central Africa, as required by US law, according to two leading human rights groups.

Amnesty International and Global Witness based their findings on reports submitted to regulators by 100 public companies - some of them household names.

The conclusion is that nearly 80 percent of the firms are falling short of what the groups deem to be the minimum requirements of the legislation.

The U.S. Justice Department is set to consider the anti-trust implications of the planned $45 billion merger of Comcast and Time Warner.

BRUSSELS TO CHARGE GAZPROM

The EU says formal charges will be filed against Russian gas giant Gazprom over claims of unfair pricing in central and eastern Europe.

The European Commission says it believes Gazprom has broken anti-trust rules.

Brussels claims eight countries received unfair prices because of Gazprom's contracts including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Gazprom says the EU objections are 'unfounded'.
