US Secretary of State John Kerry is to travel to Paris this week for talks with government officials on extremist violence.
The Obama administration has been widely criticized for failing to send either Mr. Kerry or Vice President Joe Biden to the French capital for the weekend marches honoring those killed in last week's attacks.
