Libyan pleads not guilty to Benghazi conspiracy in US Court

A Libyan man accused of involvement in the 2012 attack on the US mission in Benghazi has pleaded not guilty in a court in Washington DC.

Ahmed Abu Khatallah was seized by US forces earlier this year and brought to America for trial.

US military drops supplies to Kobani's defenders

American aircraft have dropped weapons and other supplies to the Kurds defending the Syrian city of Kobani, which is under attack by militants from the so-called Islamic State.

The US military says that multiple airdrops were carried out by C-130 (C-one thirty) aircraft.

The action - the first of its kind - coincides with an apparent shift in Turkey's position on support for the Kurdish fighters.

Isolation ends for Texas Ebola contacts

Most of the family and friends of Thomas Eric Duncan have completed a 21-day isolation period without developing Ebola.

Texas health officials have cleared 43 of 48 people who came into contact with the Liberian man who was the first person to die of Ebola on American soil.

Nigeria declared ebola free and applauded for response

INTRO:  The World Health Organisation has declared Nigeria officially ebola free, almost three months after the first case entered the country via its largest airport in Lagos. UK REJECTS BARROSO ON EU

Downing Street is rejecting claims by European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso that Britain could be making an 'historic mistake' if it moves towards EU exit.

Outgoing Commission President Barroso is in the UK, insisting the country would have 'zero' influence if it does leave the European Union.

Prime Minister David Cameron says he will reform the EU and then hold a referendum on membership of it if he wins the UK general election.

It's also reported he is formulating plans to limit EU migration - which Brussels says would be illegal.

EU Foreign Ministers meet to discuss EU action on Ebola

Sweden hunting for "foreign" submarine

Sweden has released a photo of a mysterious sea vessel under 30 miles from Stockholm, as the largest military search since the Cold War was underway for what many are saying is a Russian submarine. 

This comes as tension rises between Russia and the Nordic states over Russia's involvement in the crisis in Ukraine. 

Last month, Sweden accused Russia of a "serious violation", after reporting two Russian warplanes entering its air space.

Outgoing EU Commission President warns UK on membership referendum

The outgoing president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso is warning Britain's Prime Minister not to make a historic mistake by taking Britain out of the European Union.


Prime Minister David Cameron has promised a referendum on staying in or leaving by 2017.


Barroso is also warning Cameron that a proposed system of quotas to curb immigration may be illegal.


Former UK deputy Prime Minister Lord Heseltine says that the rate of immigration into the UK now is too high.

Two nurses who cared for the Liberian man who died at a Dallas Texas hospital are being treated for Ebola at special isolation units in Atlanta and at the National Institutes of Health

Boko Haram attacks cast doubts on ceasefire and schoolgirl release

A Texas hospital lab worker onboard a cruise ship has tested negative for Ebola.

Obama Rules Out Ebola Travel Ban


U.S. President Barack Obama has ruled out imposing a travel ban on the West African countries hit hardest by Ebola. In a video message released over the weekend, he said isolating the region could have have a significant and negative ripple effect. He also advised Americans not to give into "hysteria" or fear over the virus, and confirmed that it is not an epidemic in the U.S.

Speaking on America's CNN, one of Mr. Obama's top health advisers Dr. Anthony Fauci [[ FOW-chee ]] urged Republican lawmakers who are suggesting a ban on West African flights to consider the negative effects. He said current policies make it possible to track those who are potentially ill.
