US: AIR STRIKES 'NOT ENOUGH' TO HALT IS SEIZURE OF KOBANE

The US and UK say air strikes will not be enough to stop Islamic State militants seizing the key Syrian border town of Kobane.

Washington says it is doing everything it can from the air, but that there are limits to what bombing can achieve.

IS fighters reportedly entered two further districts of Kobane overnight, close to the border with Turkey.

Three weeks of fighting in the area have forced over 160 000 refugees across the border into Turkey.

Meanwhile, UK foreign secretary Philip Hammond has given the first official indication that four terror arrests in London this week are thought to be connected to an IS-related plot.

US EBOLA SCREENS, UK DOESN'T (YET)

There are growing calls for Ebola screening of passengers arriving at UK airports, following the US example.

The White House unveiled plans for extra airport screening after the death of the first patient in the US from the virus.

Ebola has killed over 3800 people, mostly in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The UK is sending 750 troops to Sierra Leone to help deal with the outbreak - but is not currently planning on bringining in airport screening.

Death With Dignity Debate Goes Viral in USA

With over four million views in just three days,* a YouTube video in which a terminally ill 29-year-old American explains why she's moved from California to Oregon, to take advantage of its 'Death with Dignity' law is placing the issue of assisted suicide front and center on the nation's agenda.

As Tim Exton reports from Seattle, only five of the United States' fifty states currently allow the terminally ill to choose the time and place of their deaths … but that could be about to change.
