British MPs have voted in favour of military action in Iraq...

The majority of MPs, 524, voted in favour of the action, with 43 voting against.

RAF Tornado jets will be used to hit moving Islamic State targets in Iraq as early as Friday evening - but they will not join US and Arab forces in action in Syria.

Russia and Ukraine reach preliminary gas agreement

Russia and Ukraine have reached a preliminary agreement over the supply of natural gas to Ukraine. 

A resolution to the dispute would prevent the potential disruption of gas flow during the critical winter months.

Guinea's president: Economic impact of Ebola significant

Containing the outbreak of Ebola has been one of the top issues at the United Nations Security Council this week — with the Security Council creating a mission to tackle the spread of the deadly virus and allocating $1 billion dollars in aid.

Much of that will go to the three hardest-hit nations: Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
Addressing the General Assembly via an interpreter, Guinea's President Alpha Conde said the impact on the economy has been significant:

US economy continues to accelerate

The latest revised report on the American economy finds it is growing at 4.6 percent.

The revised numbers for the second quarter Gross Domestic Product - that's the broadest calculation of economic activity - met many forecasts.

US-led air strikes on Islamic State militants have destroyed four tanks, in a fourth night of heavy attacks in Syria.

The Pentagon says it has also carried out seven attacks on IS militants in Iraq- including just outside Baghdad.

Young woman kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria found

Nigerian police have confirmed that a 20-year old woman found near the Cameroonian border was one of the girls kidnapped by the extremist Boko Haram group earlier this year. 

Police are yet to confirm whether she escaped or was released by her captors. Boko Haram have killed hundred of people in North Eastern Nigeria over the past 3 years. 

They abducted more than 200 school girls and women from the town of Chibok five months ago.

Hungary halts gas flows to Ukraine

Hungary has suspended its delivery of gas to Ukraine saying they expect hungarian demand to increase.

Along with Poland and Slovakia, Hungary has been using reverse flows to supply Ukraine after Russia halted it's gas exports to the country following a dispute over unpaid bills.

British MPs have begun debating possible UK air strikes on Islamic State targets in Iraq - with the Prime Minister David Cameron saying this is a mission that "will take not just months, but years."

Politicians will vote on UK military action on Friday evening (1700BST), with RAF Tornado jets on stand-by to begin air strikes as early as this evening.

The US and Arab countries are continuing air strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria.

British UKIP party leader says he doesn't support airstrikes

The leader of Britain's UK Independence Party Nigel Farage says he wouldn't support airstrikes on Islamic State militants in Iraq.

His comments come amid support for strikes among all three main political parties in the country. 

The widow of Philip Hains, the British aid worker beheaded by the militants says she supports strikes, but there's no coherent long term plan, says Mr Farage.

Britain's Foreign Minister says Syria strikes too complex for Britain at the moment

Britain's parliament has been recalled to vote on joining airstrikes on Islamic State militants in Iraq.

Work started on eastern Ukrainian ceasefire buffer zone

Ukrainian and Russian officials are starting work to create a, "buffer zone," in eastern Ukraine.


The plan is for heavy artillery and heavy weaponry are to be pulled back from the zone to help work on a ceasefire.

US Attorney General announces resignation

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has announced he is leaving the Obama administration.

The White House did not announce a new nominee, saying it will take as much time as it takes to find the right candidate.

As the nation's first African-American Attorney General, Eric Holder found himself repeatedly under fire from conservative Republicans, who claimed he disregarded the Constitution and repeatedly called for his sacking.

With President Obama accepting his resignation on a rainy Washington afternoon, Eric Holder thanked his colleagues and his family.

Cyber Experts Warn Bash Bug Could Affect Hundreds of Millions of Devices

Cyber experts are issuing new warnings about a security flaw that could potentially affect hundreds of millions of computers, servers and other devices. 

Known as the 'Bash' bug or “Shellshock”, the flaw could be more affective than “Heartbleed' which put every computer user at risk earlier this year.

One industry standard for assessing security flaws – the Common Vulnerability Scoring System – has rated the bug a maximum 10 out of 10 for its impact and ease of exploitability.
