Canada has imposed retaliatory tariffs on more than twenty-seven billion dollars' worth of American goods, with levies of up to fifty per cent taking effect on Tuesday.
The move comes after US President Donald Trump threatened on Monday to ban the Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier from selling planes in the United States, writing on Truth Social that the company must build in America or lose access to the market.
Quebec's premier has vowed defiance, saying her province will not allow anyone to dictate where Canadian companies must produce.
