US President Donald Trump has announced that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down at the end of August to spend more time with her two young children.
The 28-year-old, who made history as the youngest person ever to hold the role, confirmed the decision in a social media statement, saying she felt she could not devote the time the job required while being the mother she wanted to be.
President Trump said Leavitt would become one of his top outside advisers and play a prominent part in the Republican effort to win November's midterm elections.
