US President Donald Trump held a White House press conference on Tuesday and invoked a section of federal law, in the latest in a series of sweeping executive actions that have defined his second term.
Among the most controversial of those actions is an executive order reducing the number of recommended childhood vaccines from eighteen to eleven — a move backed by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior that the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention says is not supported by scientific evidence.
The president has said the order was motivated by concerns about a link between vaccines and autism, a claim repeatedly debunked by multiple studies.
