Washington's 250th anniversary fireworks lit up the sky just before midnight on Saturday after storms forced the evacuation of the National Mall and delayed US President Donald Trump's speech by several hours.
More than 80 people were treated for various ailments during the celebrations, with dozens taken to hospital, as a dangerous heat dome settled over the Midwest and the East Coast — leaving more than half the country's population under heat alerts.
