US President Donald Trump is defending his intervention in the World Cup that saw FIFA reinstating United States striker Falorin Balogun, even though he was given a red card during last week’s match against Bosnia-Herzogovina.
Balogun is now eligible to play against Belgium later today, despite widespread fury over FIFA’s actions.
European football's governing body UEFA called the decision "unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustified"
Speaking at the White House, President Trump conceded that he had taken steps to get the player's red card penalty suspended.
