Around four thousand more people have been ordered to leave the popular tourist area of Lacanau in south-west France, even as the main wildfire front in the Gironde region has been declared stabilised.
The regional prefect says fourteen renewed blazes have broken out in areas the fire had already passed through, while some evacuees from villages closer to Bordeaux have been allowed to return home on condition they remain ready to leave again at short notice.
More than a quarter of a million people have now been evacuated across France in what officials are calling the country's largest peacetime evacuation.
Ross Cullen reports from Bordeaux.
