The European Union has completed the legislative process to implement its trade deal with the United States, days ahead of a fourth of July deadline set by US President Donald Trump, who threatened much higher tariffs if Brussels failed to act in time.
The EU Council gave final approval last week to two regulations scrapping customs duties on American industrial goods and opening preferential access for some US agricultural and seafood products.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has welcomed the agreement, but industry groups say significant barriers remain.
