That’s England’s newest MP - being declared the winner of the Makerfield by-election.
Andy Burnham won 55 percent of the vote, comfortably beating the Reform party challenger in second place.
The former mayor of Manchester has previously said he would enter any Labour leadership contest… and can now do that, having secured his return to Westminster.
He now needs the backing of 81 of his party’s MPs, and he used his victory speech as a rallying cry to garner support…
