IRAN HALTS CEASEFIRE MEDIATION AS RUBIO LAYS OUT US DEMANDS ON CAPITOL HILL

Iran has stopped communicating with mediators about extending a ceasefire in the war with the United States and Israel, according to reports from two semi-official Iranian news agencies on Tuesday.

The breakdown came as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was testifying before lawmakers on Capitol Hill, where he laid out the Trump administration's conditions for a deal with Tehran.

Democratic senators pushed back hard, with Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey telling Rubio that Americans can see the economic toll of the conflict.
