Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan has died at the age of one hundred from complications of Parkinson's disease, his wife, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell, has confirmed.
Greenspan's tenure at the helm of the US central bank spanned more than eighteen years and four presidencies, making it the second longest in the institution's history.
His career in public life began long before he took charge of the Federal Reserve.
