India's indigenous fast breeder nuclear reactor achieves criticality

India has moved a step closer to its goal of generating 100 gigawatts of nuclear power by 2047 after an indigenously built reactor attained criticality.


It's the point at which a nuclear chain reaction becomes self-sustaining.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a "defining step" in India's civil nuclear journey.
