Venezuela's former President Nicolas Maduro returns to a New York court on Thursday, almost three months after US forces captured him in a dramatic nighttime raid in Caracas.
Maduro's trial could be years away, but the court has to deal with a number of issues first including whether the Venezuelan government should be allowed to fund his legal defense.
