The UK government has promised to move more quickly to close loopholes in laws designed to protect children online.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer says no platform will get a "free pass" on children's safety and has vowed to crack down on the addictive elements of social media.
The UK's Online Safety Act was drafted before the emergence of AI chatbots, which have been criticised for giving children misleading information or even harmful suggestions on everything from mental health advice to eating habits.
